Thrissur had no organization working for animals, which covered the entire district. While there are some scattered animal welfare groups across a few areas, there was no collaboration between them. Understanding the fact that team work can produce better results, Preethi decided to co-ordinate a team of sincere and dedicated animal lovers, under the name PAWS THRISSUR

A number of animal lovers are not aware of how they can help in animal welfare. PAWS THRISSUR aims at getting people together to work for animal welfare and hence the name, People for Animal Welfare Services.

The year 2013 brought us a wonderful gift in the form of an ambulance sponsored by the Canine Club of Thrissur.

We use to conduct Anti Rabies Vacciation vaccination camps. We use to visit some of the homes, where there were more than one dog and where they had found it difficult to bring the dogs to the camp.

If your dog or cat is lost, you can notify us by making a Lost Pet Report. We will keep your online report on file for 30 days.

We are available from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM on all days of the week.. You can call us for reporting a lost pet, adopting a pet or queries regarding donation.

Preethi Sreevalsan, the founder of PAWS Thrissur, is known to many as a woman of resolve and resilience. Born into a family of animal lovers, it was natural instinct for her to develop a soft corner for animals from a very young age. A post graduate in Biotechnology, Preethi chose to serve animals and be their voice in the society. She is also known for her battles against animal cruelty. Her strong will and a deep sense of conscience may have often put her life at risk, but not one to be deterred, she has successfully overcome colossal challenges as an animal activist.

PAWS Thrissur is Preethi’s brain child; her life. The realization of a dream she has held close to her heart since childhood.

1. Spreading awareness against cruelty and about the need to develop compassion for animals among the general public, especially among children.” The child is the father of the man”, after all.
2. Rescue work and re homing
3. Regular ongoing street dog sterilization and vaccination programmes in order to bring down the numbers of stray dogs roaming the streets. This is the only proven way to curb the occurrence of rabies
4. A well equipped 24 hours clinic for injured or sick animals
5. A permanent shelter for sick or abandoned animals
6. A self sustaining Goshala to house stray cattle which roam the streets freely creating accidents to vehicles and injury to themselves and people. The waste products of the Goshala can be sold as manure.
7. Encourage supermarkets and stores to carry a line of anti cruelty products
8. Pet training and animal behavior programmes
9. Create a petting farm where children can visit and interact with young farm animals
