The first ARV (Anti Rabies Vacciation) camp of PAWS THRISSUR was conducted at Ward No 13 of Avanoor Grama Panchayat, under the initiative of members, Sally and Kannan. Leaflets were distributed to people owning dogs in the ward and de worming medicines were also supplied at their homes, a week in advance, free of cost. The camp was conducted on the 16th Dec 2012 at Varadiyam public school. The camp was well attended and 41 dogs were vaccinated. PAWS THRISSUR visited some of the homes, where there were more than one dog and where they had found it difficult to bring the dogs to the camp. Collars were distributed to those who could not afford to buy them. Biscuits were given to cheer up the dogs after the vaccination! Booklets were also given to all, with tips on ‘caring for our lifetime companions’. Immunization charts were also distributed for each dog.

Preethi Sreevalsan

As an individual , Preethi had been doing what she could for animals within her limited resources. She had rescued over 30 animals by 2012, including puppies, big dogs, kittens, cats, bull calves, birds and even a snake!

Animals cannot speak up and they need a voice to speak for them and dedicated people to work for them. With this thought in mind, she decided to start PAWS Thrissur and registered it as a charitable trust in June 2012.
